The Queensland Teachers Union (QTU) has passed a resolution announcing that the “QTU joins the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions Campaign initiated by Palestinian trade unions and civil society in 2005” and supporting the consumer boycott of Israeli goods.  With this resolution, the QTU joins the growing number of Australian unions heeding this non-violent Palestinian call for support from their international friends.

Australian unionists also welcomed the recent call from 19 member churches of Australia’s National Council of Churches which adopted a resolution on peace for Israelis and Palestinians which includes the call for consumers to boycott goods produced in the illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.  View the AUSPalestine NEWS page for these latest articles.

The Victorian Trades Hall is hosting a forum on “Opposing Israeli Apartheid: Australian Unions and the International Boycott campaign” in Melbourne on Saturday 7 August 2010.  AUSPalestine encourages unionists in Victoria to attend. View the AUSPalestine EVENTS page for further details.
